The Main Character? Empty The Main Character?

I dont know if this is finalized already, I've only skimmed whats been written.
But what are your ideas on the main character of the game?

I had a couple ideas:
We could parody your typical Japanese tales of final fantasy game with a "chosen one"
In this case the chosen one would be a character that represents some fantastic new IP (tuba playing crocodile?)
You as the main character are assigned to escort this new IP through the continents to find the right developer for it, along the way youre ambushed by several "Evil" developers and if you lose the boss battle to them we could have a splash screen of how horrible the game turned out. (Gay Sex TubaCroc: end of rine DLC if you lose to Bioware)
The actual ending could have a few variations as well depending on the choices you made, as to which 'good' developer makes a game for the new IP.

I think it works well, gives a good reason why evil devs would be attacking you, gives you a reason to be going on this adventure through the continents, isn't convoluted, and has room for plenty of dumb jokes.

I think that is a pretty cool idea. This original character could be the protag of the modern day chapters, while the Atari and BitWars chapters would be played by Atari and Nintendo or Sega respectively.

I think we need to make the "player" the main character, as far as calling him "Main character" or "Player 1" he's a peasant, bored with the outrageous DLCs, or maybe caught by a DRM that wasn't meant to be, we may go the Mount and Blade route and leave our character as a neutral, willing to travel to any realm, or make multiple origins, a feudal young samurai for Nintendo, a dashing outlaw rogue for Sega, a young Deathknight straying from Bioware and going full renegade, one of Valve's promising new gunners, you guys get my idea, if you want i can make some art of this

As cliche it is, i think we should stick with a simple defeat the ancient evil goal. Mainly for the sake of development. It's much easier to make a relatiely linear story. I would like to see something more complex, but we don't have the organization, manpower or the skills of a professional dev to do so.
Step 1 about game development: Be realistic with your goals.

Kinda hard to follow that now after we went overboard with characters.
I suggest that after finding our main character we start making lists of
>Characters who will actually appear
>Characters who will only be mentioned.

You're right, but it should be
-Major characters
-Minor characters
-Characters only mentioned in lore and dialog

A good idea posted by Genkitompouce in the "Dem characters, general thoughts" topic:
The player can be the last spark of the great force called "creativity" which explains why many companies want involvement in you story, and you can either bring the world to a new crash or something else?

I had something like that in mind after reading his stuff
We could make "creativity" as a source of magic, the power that helped nintendo Empire, etc, etc, we could make our protag be the "chosen one" that can bend the power of creativity, and has to train with the previous masters, aka King Ninty, Segamonk, and the last one would be Atari, and that would include a dangerous trip to his lair

Works wonders, but maybe creativity can be used for both means
As in "Creativity powered new methods of innovation in videogames, stories and gameplay"
and also "Creative ways to sell overpriced DLC, new and innovative DRM and franchise milking"
