One idea I had about Epic is that he should be super patriotic. Seeing as most members of the Microsoft Kingdom were immigrants from the PC realm, Microsoft Kingdom could be heavily based off american and the whole idea of the "Microsoft Dream" couold be a theme throughout the chapter.
But back to Epic. He's a super macho man that has fallen in love with the console realm after his success with pioneering a new style of combat focused on taking cover, making him a celebrity.
His motivation for joining 343 in his mission to do whatever could simply be that he loves his country and is willing to fight and die for it.
he however tends to forget about and even insult his homeland. He also REALLY hates pirates.

I'm not quite sure what to say to that, but that does actually seem like a good idea so far.

Don't forget that Epic also made the Unreal engine which qualifies him as the Grizzled Old Veteran. This could actually work in justifying why he sometimes forgets his love for his country, because he's spent decades witnessing and living the horrors of war, but he can't leave because fighting is all he knows.
