Someone mentioned yesterday that Konami's description was too bland. Which is true. For such a big company, something as simple as The Cool Vampire Family doesn't serve them justice.
An idea that i mentioned yesterday:
I wrote:Hmm maybe Konami the Vampire has been terrorizing a small haunted village for years and as a sidequest you have to sneak in and defeat him with the help of Kojima or some shit.
It would be a cool stealth mission if done right and Kojima could be an optional party member or something.

It would be a simple but cool way to reference both Castlevania and MGS, Konami and Kojima's biggest franchises while adding a change of gameplay and a secret character as a reward. Kinda like a throwback to the old days where you actually unlocked characters.

That actually sounds like a cool idea. We can even go so far as to name him The Count of Monte Bella after the Belmont family (obviously). And we can throw in a DDR reference by making his attacks a combination of vampiric magic and break dancing. It would also serve a double purpose of making him a bit more original than Dracula clone #547.

Also, Kojima being a secret additional party member could work if he joined after you defeated Konami under a certain condition. Up to that point Kojima wold act as a sort of Otacon/Grey Fox character who not only gave you advise via CODEC calls while sneaking through the mansion but also fucked shit up on the sidelines.

The only problem is, we'd need to have a good reason represented as to why we're making Konami a villian in the first place.
If anything, I'd think that Kojima would be a Konami's beloved, but much-more-technologically-aware-than-his-aging-father, son.
Or friends, at the very least.

I was actually thinking the exact same thing. We could write a story about Kojima trying to make Konami understand that he is old enough to do things on his own and he doesn't need his dad looking over his shoulder all the time.

Konami obviously wants the best for Kojima, but his over-protective nature ends up restricting him from the path he really wants to take. Will his choice lead to happiness? No one really knows, but Kojima feels he should be the one to make that decision, not Konami. Not anymore.

Here's another idea. Instead of Konami having the whole break-dancing stuff, we could possibly make Bemani his daughter, who has next to nothing in common with her brother other than her appreciation of technology. Some ideas:

>in reference to the fact that DDR isn't the only Bemani game series, Bemani is obsessed with all forms of music and ways of making them
>constantly creates and releases albums of her music
>when she wants to be, is an extremely skilled and varied dancer, but seems to have a strange obsession with shuffling
>in reference to Poppin' Music, holds the world record for most bitchslaps in a single minute
>seen as a fun party girl by some, seen as an annoying cunt by others
>has been eating a lot less, almost to the point of anorexia, ever since Activision and EA demolished her spot at the top of the music industry (Guitar Hero/Rock Band reference), along with her dancing skills becoming sloppier, with her occasionally slipping (in reference to those horrendous new soft pads that come with DDR games nowadays that keep sliding over time as you dance)

Taking away the break-dancing vampire abilities would rip out one of the few things that separates him from every other generic vampire out there.

I always pictured this small side-story as a sort of breather episode after (or before) a serious event. Though there will be some heavy themes discussed in this level, the events should be altogether whacky and weird. Kinda like getting hammered one night and then going for a weird trip of a walk in the park alone. Which is actually in line with how a lot of haunted mansion stories play out, except this one relishes in it. Like if Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania got with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. By the next morning, the party will be so weirded out that they swear to never mention the incident again.

Keep in mind, though, there are definitely other franchises Konami can use to separate itself from other vampires and/or vampire hunters.
Are you forgetting Frogger, Contra, and Gradius? What if he was a gunslinging vampire with a spaceship that carries around the cremated remains of his pet frog?
And what if one of his special spells is the Konami Code and consists of him moving in a pattern that resembles the button combination? And what if the spell is normally used to revive fallen party members but has a one in three chance of causing Konami to take damage from an explosion instead?

C-Can we add all that? Like, on top of him being a break dancing vampire? 'Cause if we can, that would be one awesome boss battle.

Maybe we can give him the ability to break dance too, but have him admit that his daughter Bemani is the one who taught him the moves in the first place, which we could somehow use to reference the fact that some of the songs from Konami's games have made appearances in DDR.

Yeah, I'm good with that idea. I just want him to have a spell that rains directional arrows down on the party while the BGM switches to generic dubstep

Oh, and just one more idea. Out of desperation, during the battle, Konami attempts to use the Konami code to revive the cremated remains of Frogger, but it fails miserably because he merely comes back as a frog made out of weak ashes that dies in just about one hit.

You know what? Since we've decided that Kojima might be an OPTIONAL character to unlock, why don't we try doing this: make it so that you have to complete a long series of errands for Konami in order to finally get Kojima to join your party; have the errands be based on various franchises from Konami's past and present, etc. and then have the final "errand" be the actual fight with Konami, with the condition of Kojima having to survive the fight as a member of your party in order for you to win him as a party member.

The part leading up to the battle would be a stealth mission inside a haunted castle.

I'm actually also thinking that for the battle itself, Konami decided that the fight should take place in an area completely free of distraction, so he opens up a portal to a special location: a barren hill in the middle of nowhere. Konami reveals that the place they are in is one of his most prized creations, an artificial alternate dimension created by magic that he refers to simply as, "Silent Hill." He explains that he would sometimes use his skills with magic to send foes inside and then manipulate the dimension so that they experience various illusions that make them question the life they live, perhaps to the point of deep psychological torture at times. But he'll be keeping the fight fair for the purpose of testing his son and your party.
