This is our first question. If we are able to answer it, we WILL make a vidya out of this shit, if not, we will get written in history as "pathetic attempt #153".
Current prevalent option is RPG maker.
give ideas, contribute and have fun!

Coder from the current thread here, I'll keep an eye on this project if it looks like you guys flesh out some more ideas on what the game will be I'll probably help you out.
Id like to see a almost complete story concept, world concept, and major character concepts before I start, but if you guys want to use RPG maker or find another coder to start immediately thats fine with me.

We`re working on it. An anon has said he`d put together sort of a `Bible`to organize everything. That, in conjunction with here and the blog, we should be out of the brainstorming phase fairly soon!

Unity eh? I don't know much about it. Is it easy to use?

Unity is what is probably the easiest-to-use 3d game engine out there right now.
You can make an Xbox game in a few months, that's how quick it is.
You'll have to sit through some tutorials first, I guess, but yeah.
We'll also have to find another program to design 3d models and animations with, though.

Oh, and also Spritefag, the Music forum of this site is only open to administrators at the moment, can you fix that?
Also, I think you might have to start up a new thread on /v/ so that we can get drawfags started on other characters.

It is? Yeah, this forum site is a little glitchy, I'll fix that.
And i'll try and remind /v/ that we're still not dead soon.

I imagine you guys were making a sprite game,
Unity is good for 3D games, for 2d its a little lacking without costly modules and packages, and a little needlessly complicated for sprite games.

I would recommend you guys use Game Maker for this project. Saves an assload of development time, for pros and amateurs alike, and is more than powerful enough to handle anything you would want to do in sprite games.

As a backup, RPG Maker can make your game, its just lacking in the flexibility and power Game Maker has.

There IS a chance we can make Unity work, however.
Think of the kind of 3D Super Mario RPG had, but with better graphics, of course.

If you're talking the SNES Super Mario RPG, that uses sprites and 2d isometric tilesets. No 3d at all, if you were trying to do that I would use GM.
If you were talking about one of the Paper Mario Games that use flat art for characters in a 3d world, then sure Unity would be fine.
No matter which way though, if you were expecting to have better graphics than either of those games you're probably aiming a little too high. Those games were made by large teams of professionals working full time, this is an amateur hobby project.
If this project has any chance of being finished I would recommend making it similar to "Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden." Which was made in GM but you can do a decent enough game in RPG maker.

Yeah I've seen some really cool shit done in GM, like SSB:Crusade. I think GM is the way to go.
